Redevelopment of Rådhusparken
iThe council’s Nature and Environment Department is currently working on a plan to redevelop Rådhusparken.
First and foremost, the plan is to create a better connection between Park Alle and Rådhusparken. At present, the connection is virtually hidden and resembles more a stairway down to a cellar or similar.
The plan comprises three stages in total and will be submitted to the City Council within the next few weeks. In addition to creating an opening towards Park Alle, the first phase involves rearranging the planting in the park and installing more lighting. It is hoped that work on this phase can begin as early as this year.
Subsequent phases are intended to create better connectivity between Rådhusparken and Musikhusparken, the two large central park areas. The parks have already been joined together for several concerts, with Frederiks Alle closed to through traffic for this purpose. There has previously been talk of building a tunnel beneath the central section between Skt Nicolaus Gade and Vester Alle. At present, however, a certain other tunnel is higher on the wish list...
