Conversion of the Tulip abattoir in Brabrand

Danish Crown’s “Tulip” abattoir in Brabrand is set to close at the end of 2007, and the large 114,000-square-metre site has been put up for sale.

It is expected that the site will be sold for a residential development, or possibly a mix of residential and small-scale commercial use. Depending on the layout, there could be space for as many as 500 homes, located within 10 km of the city centre.

If the buildings are constructed at a sufficient height, some of the homes may even have a view of Brabrand Lake.

The site is being sold clear of buildings, and it is then up to the buyer to secure approval for a new local plan for the area.

The property has been on the market since May, and a sale is expected to be finalised within 2–3 months, according to the estate agent. The sale price is expected to be in the region of a three-figure million sum.
