High-rise building on Randersvej / the La Tour site

On the Latour site in northern Aarhus, the owner is considering building two high-rise blocks in place of the current low-rise hotel complex.
The tallest building in the area is currently the old water tower, but under the council’s high-rise policy, the junction of Randersvej and Ringvejen is characterised as a location where high-rise buildings are not as a matter of principle ruled out.

The two towers, which from some angles will encircle the water tower, are expected to house a mix of residential and commercial uses, including both hotel facilities and a nursery.

The towers are designed to be 110 metres high, but as the site lies 90 metres above sea level (the water tower was built there for a reason), the tops of the towers will rise almost 50 metres higher than ‘Denmark’s tallest building’ at the harbour, thereby becoming Denmark’s highest point. It has not yet been announced whether there will be public access to the view.
