The Multimedia Bastion

The master plan for the harbour areas close to the city centre includes two bastions surrounding the inner harbour basin.
The bastions are to be buildings of a certain mass and weight, and are intended to help accentuate the open basin facing the city.
The southern bastion is earmarked to house a future Multimedia Centre, which is to replace the Main Library at Mølleparken.

The building’s final function and layout have not yet been decided, but it is certain that, in addition to serving as a library, it will house public services as well as commercial premises that fit into the overall scheme.

Work is currently underway on a master plan which incorporates the restoration of the stream into the project and takes into account trains, cars, cyclists and pedestrians.
The building is due to be opened in 2014.
