Skanderborg Festival 2007
iTogether with my girlfriend and eight others, I went to the Skanderborg Festival for the third time this year. It resulted in plenty of fun and plenty of photos.
As always, the festival was cosy and relaxed – once you’d got through the hassle of pitching the tent, that is. It’s unbelievable that this has to be so disorganised every single year.
The highlights of the year were Nordstrøm, Infernal (as expected) and Sinead O’Connor, but a number of other concerts will also be remembered, not least Sebastian, Kim Larsen and the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, who, with their usual flair for this special audience, rounded off the festival with a spectacular rendition of the Star Wars theme.
The bar of the year must surely go to Castro Bar, which, with its good, cheap mojitos and the otherwise hard-to-find Palma Cristal beer, secured a fair bit of business from me, as well as contributing to my exercise when I had to fetch fresh supplies from the other end of the square.
Special mention must also go to Thor Hill for its ‘Thor Hill-ness’, and to Stereobænken for its central location.
Bar of the Year at the other end goes to MiniRytmer for its great location and friendly bartenders.
Outside the fence, the choice falls on Colorbar for its great atmosphere, good music, almost level floor, and regular access to power.
The innovation of the year has to be the decentralised mobile charging stations, even though it felt as though charging took an age. More of them, please.
A mention for the wrong reasons goes to Amy Winehouse, the start of the camping season, and people making a racket in the middle of the night just for the sake of it. Perhaps I’ve just got too old to sleep in a tent...
Gear of the year has to be my previously mentioned T-shirts and the MSR PackTowl – the towel that takes up no space and dries without any hassle inside a damp tent.
