The Nørreport junction is being redeveloped as part of the plan for the urban harbour areas.
The redevelopment is scheduled to begin immediately after Container Terminal North has been vacated, sometime in September 2007.

One of the first measures to be taken will be the closure of access to Nordhavnsvej. This means that the shortcut along the harbour will effectively disappear. In future, traffic will primarily be channelled via Ringgaden.
Nordhavnsvej is being closed, amongst other reasons, because the area immediately south of Pier 2 is to be used for a new educational centre.

The redevelopment will take place in a series of stages, and an underpass for the cycle path will be constructed at an early stage. However, the final implementation of the traffic plan is pending the relocation of the Mols Line.
