History of the Solport Network
A shared network became inherited authority, then was broken apart to prevent any realm from ruling all the others.
The Solport network began as shared infrastructure, was captured as a system of rule and was finally broken for survival. The mythic record preserves this sequence as a struggle among gods. The technical record describes a conflict over routing, identity and inherited access.
iThe Vanir compact
The oldest surviving records describe a compact rather than an empire. The Vanir stabilised passages through stars and distributed access among participating realms. Routes were maintained locally; Bifröst coordinated them, but no single realm commanded the whole system.
iThe Æsir seizure
The Æsir converted inherited biological permissions into political authority. Control of routes became proof of divinity. Maintenance became ritual, dependence became worship, and worlds were absorbed, isolated or declared enemies.
iFragmentation and Midgard
War made central routing intolerable. The Vanir broke links, concealed coordinates and disabled Bifröst. Humans possessed no inherited permissions, yet could operate portable controllers. Solvognen was stolen to Earth, disguised as a ritual object, and its gate was buried.
iThe return
Project SolPorten enters the aftermath of that settlement. Every route it opens challenges the logic of fragmentation. When Bifröst eventually recognises Midgard, an archaeological programme becomes a political event across every surviving realm.
